In terms of what I learned from reading Rich Dad/Poor Dad a couple years, I think I land in the Poor Dad philosophy and I'm looking to break out of that a little, but also am risk-averse at my core. 

Letting people work from home is in line with their philosophy of "freedom" (I like that)4) My take:  a)Things are working out for both Clayton and the customers                      b) But .. 2/3 .. or even 10 years is too early to tell.

However what was most unusual about Bokuden was that later in life he developed the philosophy that there was more merit in avoiding conflict than there was in being victorious in a fight.

In 2017 I had zero debt, a good job and was leveraging my 401k… I have traded that philosophy to acquire large amounts of debt, no 401k or IRA contributions and now have the freedom to control my own financial destiny.Below are the steps I took to remove myself from my W-2 (and 30 years of working for someone else) and obtain a career as a real estate investor:Step 1 (Education): Read and listen to as many books and podcasts as possible.

@Andrew Steffens I think we've been able to avoid cheap owners by taking on the expense of many of these consumable supplies, which effectively removed them / their spending philosophies from the equation.

The ONLY reason to invest in real estate syndications rather than REITS is better return.  2- if you decide syndications are better for you,  spend due diligence on vetting the syndicator - eliminate any that do not have the experience, verifiable track record, or investment philosophy you want.

We have always had the philosophy that if we rehab our properties to a quality level, we will get higher rents, better tenants who take care of them, and we will improve the neighborhoods we invest in.
