Sounds like they over-charged for the appraisal itself by $400-600 and then over-charged on the appraisal management fee by another couple hundred.

They overcharge people and pigeonhole them into their strategy without any flexibility.

here are my stats on 6 months being with them (not by choice but they acquired the property manager I had in chicago) I have 22 units in 4 buildings    Rent 22.5% lower rent      Expense 34% increase in expenses Also all expenses are way above market rate with minimum oversight for vendors overcharging or proper negotiation for volume work.

Poor managers fail to do the research to figure out what the market will pay and either under charges to fill the calendar or over charges and fails to get booked.

Again, plenty of bad agents out there over charging and under delivery, I say good riddance to them.

Hi Jenny, I think it can be ok to compare a bit between what different brokers offer, especially if you think that a broker may be overcharging you, but there is also a strong importance to forming a relationship with your broker.

By charging below on rent, you're losing profit, and by overcharging, your properties may end up sitting vacant, which ultimately will cost quite a bit.

Ultimately, it sounds like they did you a favor but that you need to curb the behavior to prevent unnecessary work and being over charged in the future.We have run into issues like this many times in the past.

I've gone through a couple handymen that overcharged for very poor work so I'm looking for recommendations from people who have actually worked with someone in the area.
