A 2.5 would work if it has a good finish(for scratch resistance such as Aluminum Oxide or Ceramic Bead) Grip strip is not the easiest product to work with if you are a beginner.

Get a 4 mm thick click lock vinyl wood look with no less than a 12 mil wear layer and make sure it has either an aluminum oxide or ceramic bead finish for scratch resistance.

Floating floors are great to keep up front cost down because you normally don't need sub floors but if you are looking for sustainability and extended use you can't beat a good quality 3-4mm thick LVP with an aluminum oxide scratch resistant finish.

Wearlayer for residential doesn't need to be higher than 12 mil and a 6 mil will do ONLY IF you have a better scratchresistant finish on top like an Aluminum Oxide or a Ceramic Bead.

Wears well from what I've read but if you are trying to do a spot repair nothing beats a traditional gluedown lvp with  a aluminum oxide finish.

Has 25 year structural warranty, 50 year finish wear warranty with 13 layers of aluminum oxide finish on it, and could be refinished several times if ever needed it, looks like engineered click flooring for about same price as the laminate.

The risks from aluminum wiring are due to oxidation - aluminum oxidizes (turns a black color) when exposed to air for long enough time.
