To solve the problem when people want to close their bedroom door when they are sleeping we cut one inch off the bottom of the door, install a vent in the wall above the door so air flows into the hallway and we even cut holes in the ceiling and install registers with filter so the warm moist air rising to the ceiling can flow into the attic.

However, the (outside) perimeter of these vents do need to be sealed well as a bad seal here allows water/moisture to infiltrate into the building envelope (insulation/framing/finishes).As to the ventilation fans/ducts going nowhere, that's a concern. this means hot moist air in the house is NOT getting out - a contributor or genesis of mold and other problems.Hope this helps!

I just didn't realize it could be done in our moist climate, over cinder block which may sweat a lot (I don't know for sure as I have never seen a cinder block wall in Texas).

These are not manufactured to be used below grade in a moist area, they breakdown over time.Even that can be mitigated when you take enough off the price.But nothing is as helpful as touring the site with Contractors in that business.

That (water) has been one of the main concerns with types of flooring due to seeing bathrooms where the flooring is peeling off the ground or the glue has been so moist that the glue for the tiles is no longer sticky at all -the back house to my apartments has this problem, but that is a smaller problem within a larger problem that I won't go into-
