That said, a quick tip for DIY parts replacement if you choose to go that route... if you're uncertain about what is wrong and opt to replace parts as the process of diagnosis, start with the least expensive part first and don't un-package the control board until you're absolutely certain you'll use it, as electronic parts are often not returnable if the package has been opened.Good luck!

The maintenance guys showed them how to restore water themselves, and 95% of the time it was just a circuit breaker that tripped, but they would fail to check it and reset it, which caused diagnosis of the exact problem to take months instead of days.

I think $60 is reasonable for a service call fee, as this not only includes diagnosis, but also shopping for the parts, buying them, coming back a few days later to finish the job, etc.Some places charge less for the service call, but end up taking a 50% mark up on all materials so you end up paying more.When dealing with landlords, when not an emergency and they give me regular business, I often end up just charging the time spend in their buildings at a flat hourly rate plus the parts at list price.
