la=en - The Philadelphia Federal Reserve's regional report from April for a broader perspectiveI've worked in academia (@ UPenn and currently w/Columbia) for most of my career and the questions surrounding solvency for some institutions, cost, etc. are both legitimate and ongoing but I highly doubt it will affect large institutions like Drexel and UPenn.  

Most people should be able to handle to math side of this business as long as s/he has a decent grasp of arithmetic.Sometimes in the academia, people may over-complicate things. 

About me: 30 years old, nuclear astrophysicist (read: "How Stars Burn") by education, but left academia 2.5 years ago and am currently working as an Operations Research Analyst for the Defense Department.

BTW, I've been approached by those I know in the world of academia to teach again, I'm leery as I know the commitment required and after all, I am retired, but, I might do something to kill the boredom......might mean less time on BP, so some could celebrate that.Now, I don't recall telling you that you were full of crap, if I did, you must have been (LOL) :)I can see where your brother was coming from, he was lucky to be in a family that was active in the industry he was interested in, I think too, that unless you're expecting to climb the corporate ladder, grad school won't help that much in RE investing, it didn't do that much for me.I'd love to have some BBQ with you!

As I transition back to the force from academia, I am curious how other military, active duty members balance their ambitions and work requirements.

In my past life, I taught in academia. 

Honestly I am looking for our market in Champaign / Urbana to continue to build a strong research park that connects academia to industry.  

I’m not even close to getting to this type of structuring but as an exercise of academia, I wanted to get opinions of BP members on the cost and protections of this type of asset structure.

Media and academia seem to imply the results are mixed but I see no way that it would be good for the economy or sustainable over time.
