In our area we still see terracotta main sewers, that after 80 or 100 years break, collapse, and make life smelly for all involved.Check with your local utility provider to see if they offer insurance for water mains and sewer clogs/replacement.

I've never even heard of an electrical surge frying appliances, although I have heard of tree roots destroying old terra-cotta style sewer lines.

You should ask for the video, even seeing one of these video's for the 1st time it can be somewhat obvious what's going on with your pipes and help w. your sense of urgency.You should also always get multiple quotes.excavated city clean-out tee by machine.we found cracked fitting going into wye. we confirmed that wye was in good shape with no cracks.socket saved wye and installed new stand pipe.shored under existing pipe with good dirtbackfilled area. tamped with machine and hand tampspread seed and straw after grading.scoped sewer main to confirm everything was good.found major problems on city side in the terracotta piping. see videos for details.

The older houses have some added challenges, like knob and tube wiring and terracotta sewer lines, but the age of the house is irrelevant.

The Platinum Certified Owens Corning Roofer quotes me $17k for the roof:Since the roof tiles are constructed from tempered glass panels, I have more confidence that the Tesla Solar Roof is going to last the lifespan of a slate or terracotta roof (at least structurally) when in comparison to an asphalt shingle roof.
