Boric acid - white dry powder - plus no water or any liquid.They will be gone in couple days

Work it in with an acid brush and rinse.  

Matthew Spiegel my understanding is that only new concrete can be stained because the acid stain will react with the limestone in new concrete to give you that glossy look.

Is it possible that the stain is tannic acid from the subfloor?

I used a water-based stain instead of acid-based, and it was extremely simple.
