Take my numbers with a grain of salt and don't focus too much on how realistic or accurate they may be for your market, the underlying principle is the same, and it's partly why so many people lost their hats getting overextended in 2007-2009!

Mortgage Fees to challenge?

Long story short, Chase hat 990USD fee that I would have been able to have waived, and our local lender (that we ended up going with) gave us a credit of over 2k which covered their own processing fee, their lawyer and the appraisal.That's my limited and very recent experience.

Understand that buying a note is putting yourself in the shoes of a lender, not a property buyer. even after foreclosure you are still wearing a lender's hat untilthe property si sold the first time around and you may be limited to collections of actual amounts due as "profits" may be due the borrower.
