But I'm concerned about the costs and the possibility that the insurance carrier may decide to drop the LLC's policy in the future (since they don't seem to care much for LLCs in my area, unless they are absolutely barebones), leaving me with something I paid a lot of money for to set up that can't be easily insured.I think the holding company idea makes perfect sense in theory but I don't know how necesary it is for us "small people" (I only own three single families right now).

The advantage they have over direct writers is they represent several quality insurance companies and have carriers that specifically cater to construction type risks.

I suggest to new investors, that at the beginning of your investment carrier, to look at what best fits their particular skill sets/strengths instead of hunting for the best "on paper" deal.
