Don't argue, basically apologize; and explain that you had exhausted all other means of locating them, to see f they were interested in selling the property.

When I do that, I always put in an exhaust fan as well and hard wire it into the light switch so it always goes on when the bathroom is in use since Darren has a good point about ventilation. 

It presented many challenges and exhausted more cash than we planned on.
