If you needed to open up walls and then patch them it might make sense to use a GC since they would handle the demo, patch up, and clean up while the electrician would just wire up the place.

I found them to be a rip off,  I had them come out for a heat/air system, and they found every excuse to not pay, I didn't clean it enough, not a covered repair or they wanted to patch it.
