It's an original 1990s oak cabinet kitchen with laminate countertops, it's doesn't need the SS upgrade.I went to Home Depot and picked out the $299 Whirlpool (on sale from $399).

(A manager at HD told me that HD generally sends product back to the manufacturer rather than marking it down and blowing it out like Lowes does).I have bought ugly (orange looking Oak) 7mm, and nice (bright, light Pine)  7mm laminate at Lowes, one time for .52 cents a foot, but usually for .70 cents or so.  

I went over last night and my husband just finished sanding down the hardwood (there's beautiful hardwood oak under that ugly green carpet!)
