Thanks for all the opinions as I feel this is a great question as so many people give themselves a label that is not correct.

Labeling a second lien as "never safe" is unfair, though yes, of course they come with MUCH more substantial risks than a first.  

Typically homes bought at significant discount are labeled as “atypical” in the county meaning they didn’t go for as much as they should for whatever reason.
