I have just started in a 3-day training for the Lee Arnold broker certification program and thus far just completed the online material required for preparation. 

We've been doing this for over 20 years and have helped friends, families and tenants get into the game in whatever capacity they need.

You might have somewhat of a case against your Home Inspector - they have E&O coverage (Errors and Omissions), but basically this is a buyer beware game.

If you were going to focus your time on learning something, I'd say getting familiar with a bookkeeping platform (like Quickbooks Online) would be the best bang for your buck.
