i live in the suburbs of Baltimore and for the past 5 years I've wanted to house hack a multi-family building and I finally have the down payment needed today.I've been looking in Baltimore County and City for these opportunities but a mixed use building just came on my radar.

Certainly nothing ground-breaking in terms of ideas here, however I'll be very hands on (and on site) during the process to make sure that every step of the way is executed to a high standard and very carefully.Once I've hopefully developed a successful track record and gained experience, my next goal would be to move on to commercial assets (think multi-family, industrial etc) so that I can leverage my existing investor network and real estate knowledge to raise 3rd party equity and take on bigger projects.

Above just the assumption that it'd be far more of a corporate environment, I just don't think that would happen at a larger shop, at least not for quite awhile, and I do think I would generally be more at home with a smaller office of people (smaller being relative to multi-national, or coast-to-coast, I suppose).Personally speaking, do you find that you're in that type of environment with a boutique brokerage?
