While it can be done, The first step is to discover if your state has a certificate of need statute.

We actually just did a free webinar (local real estate developers) focused on the fact that developers don't need licenses or certifications BUT they do need strategic partners with those and their expertise to complete projects.

We feel very confident in our underwriting, but given the jump that we made from SFH to an apartment building, we want to ensure we're not missing steps in our DD/inspection plan.Here's our current plan:1) Have a general inspector complete a Property Condition Assessment.2) Have specialists complete an evaluation of the roof, electrical, foundation, and heat source (2 steam boilers).3) Review financials, all leases, existing service contracts, rent roll, tax assessment, rental certificate, and 12 months of work orders.Here's what I'm not sure about:1) Are there DD items (specifically those that we would request from the seller) that are not captured within #3 above that we should be requesting?

He asked me for the following-1: Company certificate (for companies only)2: Drivers license/SSN3: Utility bills4: 1-3 months statement of account5: Documents of the property to be used as collateral (if any)6: Provide Loan origination cost for the processing and transfer of your loan funds 7: Bank details for funding (closing)I have their website, but how can I fortify myself so I’m not being scammed.

Networking with them can be challenging, and extracting the specific information you need to transition into this space can be even more scarce and haphazard.To my knowledge, no certifications are required to officially label oneself as a developer.

Also, that when it first became a "thing" you had to take a certification class to become a Certified Buyers Agent thru NAR. 

@Mitchell Lyle Your post correlates with the information that I received from attending  a Sober Housing Certification program  .It can be a rewarding niche for the right investor.

Do you have a link or something to this "certification"? 

It all depends, this is why I always review potential client's books what is the best course of action.I personally do not like QBO for real estate (I make it clear in all my posts lol) I just renewed my certification just because most people can't afford the PM software with accounting such as AppFolio and Yardi.

I would like to find someone that can identify things that a) don't have asbestos and thus don't need to be tested (e.g. kitchen cabinets)b) things that  90%+ likely to have asbestos and thus should be treated as having asbestos (i.e. handle with extreme caution.3) Is there some certification that I can get that states that a home is asbestos free?
