*I USED to own properties in San Mateo Co CA (Silicon Valley)and found that the Building/planning dept was so malfeasant and next to impossible to work with that I sold my properties AFTER I spent YEARS trying to 1st get plans approved,** then completing the work.

San Diego, to me, seems like a market that still has a lot of upside due to the building constraints in the area, the desirability, and the strong economy. 

And for investor to put up money for this is just financial suicide.. there was guys down in San Antionio doing this preying on non english speakers.. just a sleazy way to try to make a buck nothing to be proud of.

I saw Led Zeppelin live at Kezar Stadium ( San Fran) it was Bill Grahms first out door concert.. before that it was Winterland  and the Fillmore West and sometimes the COW palace..

@Loan NguyenAs someone who grew up in the Bay Area (just north of San Francisco), I feel your pain. 

San Diego will have a ton to go to with how many people are in the area investing.

RE meetups that have helped me are very specific to San Francisco Bay Area market (sales and median rents in the last year and last quarter) so I'd recommend finding a meet up or session that might address your local market and if that's a viable option for you to invest in.
