Principal = Box10 + Sum(Box2) = Total Profit With that in mind, which logic should I use:Original principal is my basis and sum of all distributions is my sales price; or0 is basis and sum of Box10 and INC (a negative number) is my sales price; or0 is basis, Box10 is sales price, and previous years negative income is supposed to be added to Box10 by TurboTax; orsomething else ?

While yeah, technically, it does nothing for possession of the property, I can tell you just the act of getting those papers served of being sued, the explanation of process, such as all the costs that will be added to it, seeking a judgement, how from there one can garnish things like income, or via motion for discovery, assets, yeah, it get's a persons attention.

If you were mowing/maintaining, that might be more of a periodic maintenance expenses and likely not part of basis (also not deductible)For the house, the substantial repairs/upgrades would be added to basis.
