The wearlayer should be a minimum of 12 mils and it NEEDS a finish coating of an Aluminum Oxide or a Ceramic Bead for scratch resistance not just urethane.

If it has several coats of paint on it and depending on the quality of the paint, it might be a real chore, but you can still get it done.I personally don't like popcorn texture.
