Prepayment penalties are very common in DSCR and are a big tool used to get DSCR rates competitive with conventional rates but even the harshest penalties last for a max 5 years on a thirty-year loan, so if you are a long-term time horizon investor building a portfolio (generally what DSCR loans are targeted to), it doesn't really hurt

A recession is on the horizon, the market will correct, and you'll be able to buy a home for low 200s again and capture equity as it appreciates. 

My advice is focus on cash flow today and if you have a long term horizon you should be fine.

I currently do all my banking with USAA, but it has come to my attention that it would be wise to expand my banking horizons.

From speaking to private equity real estate funds, there has been a decline in deal activity and a focus on optimising returns from portfolio assets in preparation for downside exposures (if any).I am not alluding to the thought that a crash is on the horizon; instead I am trying to scope out whether I should start investing in real estate in current market conditions.

So, other than medical, we do not have any major expenses on the horizon. 

I feel since we have this one life-time why not utilize it to expand our horizons by being able to travel the world!

There are still a lot of forclosures on the horizon in those areas and until that bleeding stops the price decline won't stop.Just my 2 cents.
