I had a dinner meeting with a bond trader the Saturday night before the market sank and he called and traded on all of this.  

Not sure if that makes sense, but it is very difficult to say your why is your family and then miss a dinner to go work on a property deal (granted that helps get to a long term goal it completely misses the short term goal of the why in the moment).

A bonus could be anything from dinner for two, to an appliance update or inclusion.If there is no dishwasher, the bonus could be a new dishwasher installed.

I would only do gas (propane) because of fire hazard, but them we live in a high fire hazard area (for about half the year).Propane is inexpensive and you can allow (1) 5 gal tank per stay, that should be enough for a couple of cozy fires after dinner and will discourage all night partying at the fire-pit.
