We've started looking into real estate because we want to use our valuable time to invest in our kids as they grow and invest in our local community through volunteering, not spending all of our time working 9-5 for the next 20 years.Our goal with Bigger Pockets for this year is to determine our plan for investing, and then make our first purchase.

AZ is not prone to major natural disasters so investing there is less risky with regard to those types of setbacks.  

The good news is that there are still investable vacation rentals but historically the barrier to entry is growing each year. 

@Mike Lambert I'm curious about the nature of your investments in Mexico, geo area, type of investment, etc?

Or you can just put it all into the reserve account, growing that to buy your next property and/or for future capex or vacancy/unit make-ready expenses.

In fact, getting ahead of it now while your business is small might enable you to grow faster so you're not scrambling to build these in the middle of the growth.
