@James Beam I've been looking around the Okalona / Newburg area and having the same issue.

I was informed that all we needed were 15 steel I-beams installed for reinforcement.I knew the other basement water issues would be fairly easy to solve.I was not concerned about the mold as I have dealt with this before.The outside of the home was hideous.  

There's been some movement in the slab, and I noticed the nails on the braces connecting the floor joists to the central beam have loosened a bit.Thanks in advance!

#1. in a two story, you probably can't tear out a load bearing wall, yo would need a beam above the ceiling to carry the load and that would be in your second story. 

We bought our first 100+ year old house as newlyweds (read: naive children) in 1998 and have lived in and renovated several since, selling for a decent profit each time and learning how to do things like remove milk paint, do plumbing and wiring, and jack up a porch to replace failing beams.

Looking for a contractor to level a pier and beam and pull the permit.
