It's a slow and steady wins the race game, but it is not and should not be for everyone. 

I won't beat a dead horse here but make sure you have a solid contract, some kind of project management communication that is on a weekly basis with photo and or video documentation of progress.

I have seen that project and I am a little fearful that it is going to cause price competition and from there it is going to be a race to the bottom for who gives the best deal per night and that hurts every owner.

Get familiar with the metrics like REVPAR, TREVPAR and most importantly GOPPAR and NOI and you're off to the races. 

A pet could be anything from a miniature horse to a pet bird or a snake.

And if you aren't really focused on type and location before your sale, the 45 day identification period will race past.
