and many who reposition big multi do the same.. they have to vacate the units they have substantial negative cash flow then it starts to come back but they get big upside value add 

I lived well below my means, worked a full time job for years while doing this on the side, persisted when others did not... and now I am enjoying the fruits of my labor.  

There was never a chance to actually win a car or the trip but rather enjoy the David Goggins types telling me that I'm being lazy loser, get your act together, become the best version of yourself!
