If you decide to move forward, my suggestion is that you call as many contractors, subcontractors, Realtors, and property managers in the area as you can and ask each of them to refer someone in a complimentary trade.

Complimentary businesses too, people go eat and go next door for teeth cleaning!

You want to find people with complimentary skills to yours.

At the time,  I thought we had complimentary skills (me finance, her with guest experience/marketing) plus we could split the expenses.

The downsides are not having the ability to upsell or having a storefront in place for complimentary products and offerings, UHaul rentals, EBay sales, etc. is something that having an onsite presence in place can offer.Just my $.02

When David and I met, it turned out we had similar goals, complimentary skills, and just enough money and credit between us to bootstrap a cheap flip.

Some examples of these investors would be @J Scottand his wife....There are several reasons my wife and I work well together:- We have very complimentary skills.  

Normally when developing a reference list, you would ask someone if you can use them as a reference when they have said something complimentary about your service.
