I strongly agree with Nathan but wanted to add that residential RE, even with the use of a PM, is not passive.  

I assume you currently have a residential mortgage that does not have a pre-payment penalty.

I have a lot to learn on this side until then but am looking at buying a value add multifamily rather than residential.

Those are the players for residential...commercial the same way.

We don’t try further diversification by investing in residential mortgage loans, mortgage loans secured by property outside the U.S., loans not secured by real estate, or loans secured by farmland, recreational land, or oil and gas ,mining.
