Worth it still as now I don't have gas bills to contend with for heat which I would say was around $1k a year.

We will shop for used appliances where we can when we need one… or pick up used cabinets if we can, or search eBay for something smaller,  but going to the extreme of personally shipping something big in internationally for one-off renovation needs seems like a stretch of reasonable.Just like you mention, the number of unknowns would not seem to be worth it to me.Just my 2 cents.Randy  

@Rami Refaeli I am on the Fort Worth side of the metroplex but the company I work for is based in North Dallas.

The only way to know if your idea is worth doing from a wealth building standpoint is to do the math:  What is the cost to acquire?

It should be pretty accurate - high level data sites are not always going to be perfect, but should always be directionally correct and AirDNA has a pretty strong track record. 

The house is worth around 900K, my share is one sixth of this at around 150K.

Granted there is a cost in hiring an agent, Having someone analyze each deal with localized knowledge is worth its weight in gold.

We were initially looking out of state for a potential move and or investment property just because the property taxes without being able to homestead, plus high cost of insurance, and harsh weather on homes made me feel like it might not be worth it.
