Assuming no other options existed, once BK is discharged, begin drawing from 401-K, or from regular IRA created by a roll-over from 401-K, as needed to supplement SS income (assuming she has already quit her job).As alluded above, my bullet item 4 above may annoy some of my fellow investors and agents, but in the absence of more income, or willingness and ability from the kids involved, or other viable options, it is what it is.Best of luck to you and your Mom.

I found this forum about a week ago, and I've been reading through it every since.To give some quick background, I expect to have a small amount of cash ($50-60k after taxes) sometime this July, and plan on purchasing as many multiplexes as I can with leverage to create some supplemental income from rents.

If you don't want to spill your personal assessments in public you can speak in the third person as to how others might make some self assessment.Know thy self certainly is a beginning point in business.Most of my RE activities when I began were basically as a supplemental income matter, the motivation was probably greed, I just wanted the money and my involvement was rather casual.

What I have seen is that business lend-worthiness can supplement personal credit scores in larger deals.
