I just figured I'd post a little PSA that Kansas City council just passed an updated ordinance to BAN all STR's in areas zoned R (residential).

At the moment, we are sitting back and waiting for some current short term rental regulations to pass, and lawsuits from local homeowners who are rightfully protesting against city councils about the new changes to their zoning laws....How about yourself?

I'm on a Portland, OR real estate broker's email list (I was thinking about buying in Portland a few months ago) and received what appears to be a pretty alarming change the city council is trying to pass this Thursday (February 2, 2017).

Second chances are great and all, but will their city council be there to pick up the tab and accept the liability in the event something really bad happens?

Work on pull with your local building council and start attending meetings.

Denver City Council is looking at the issue of short term rentals in the city because the zoning department has reported a total of 9 complaints about them.Since 1956, it has been illegal to rent homes and apartments for less than 30 days.With the popularity of websites like Airbnb, there are 1000 landlords in Denver currently flouting this law.
