They were on a lease that expired and are now on month-to-month as spelled out in the original lease documents.

Usually that will run you afoul of the IRS rules of "significant services" which does spell out daily maid service.

Thankfully it stopped there and didn't blow up my propane tank or blow into an open window in the units below me and light a unit on fire...anyway...I'm not a lawyer, but my advice to you is to make sure your lease is air tight and spells out the HOA rules.

Maybe a contract attorney knows some gc's  who do a good job of spelling out work scope and rarely have client problems.

There is always a clause allowing a title company to correct incidental errors in spelling amounts and recordings.So if they made a mistake they can probably fix it.
