@Chris Field  hit the nail on the head.. much harder than it looks.. sense of entitlement out there in society that creates this  " I deserve it " attitude without putting in the apprenticeship.. you need certain amount of intangibles to be successful at RE

Later i found out why the cats were there...the local feral cat society set up shop behind the shopping center creating a make shift habitat for these feral cats, and would even come by and feed them on a very regular basis.
