We’ve seen this issue cause otherwise wonderful new builds to sit on the market because it just doesn’t work with peoples furniture. 

The home was a rental property prior and had been sitting.

That’s one of the cons because that money might not be deployed in a deal and it may just be sitting there.

I think it would be financial suicide to give up a 500k a year job that you know how to do and is secure to launch into thinking your going to replace it with rental income.. unless your sitting on 5 mil plus in  cash with no debt.

Nothing to get crazy about but no need to deal with tenants, property taxes, repairs, vacancies, etc. just sit back and collect.

If property values appreciate well, you might be sitting on a property that's worth a great deal more than todays ARV, especially if you can complete some of the repairs while your grandmother still lives there.

I'm finding that this strategy is helping people, building repour with people, and continuing to keep business moving forward while some say it's hard and sit on the sideline to wait until there is mass movement.Appreciate your time and reply and good to hear that you're experiencing some similar action a couple hours' drive away. 

You'll want to explore this with your accountant and see what side of the fence they are.What is more a concern to me is your plan to let the property sit for a couple of years and then move in.
