Each of these must be weighed against the potential rent to determine if the property is worth investing in.A short term rental (STR), on the other hand, has all of these and more. 

Not sure if that is too thin @Marylin OShea, @Joe Norman, but I can't imagine getting comfortable with it by the Sunday offer deadline.I think we do need to accrue a little more cash, and starting STR on our home soon will help.

Here are the reasons why I would suggest that over other options in your case:1) I agree with some of the advice above that finding a warrantable condo that also allows STR on the Panhandle will be really difficult if not impossible.

for a clean, well-located, well-appointed rental.After renting my STR on a 3-night minimum basis this past January-May, I calculated how much time, energy and expense went in to turning the house over every 3-7 days and decided that next season I am switching to monthly for December through March, possibly through April, although snow birds often leave by then.

My STR ONLY works because I have the absolute best care takers for it.

Before I got started I just looked up every STR on AIR B&B and VRBO and craigslist. 

Someone from Hostfully told me they would list my STR on other platforms including direct booking sites. 

I stayed at an Airbnb duplex in Salt Lake where half was also a long term rental.I am fortunate to have a good amount of time off, and lately I've been intrigued by the possibility of having a rental in an area I like that my wife and I could also use occasionally (hence portion as STR) on vacations. 

One thing I'm trying to figure out is a homeowner's/housesharing policy that allows for house-hacking, specifically STR on Airbnb.

@Ben Einspahr do you post your mid-term rentals on Airbnb as well or do you only do STR on that app?
