I WOULD NOT recommend doing something like bringing to their (Fire dept, building/ planning or any other governing agency) attention your STR rezs.

Pay attention to whether the room is a primary suite (your own bathroom) or shared bathroom, how many roommates, etc. as those would factor in to how much someone would be willing to pay.

I had to step out of my comfort zone and walk up to them to get their attention but it helped me.
