Sometimes when screwing back on you need to use plumbers thread tape as the grooves are worn out to fill the gap so no leaks are coming out.Is the leak coming out of the handle or the spout for the bath tub??

Unless I was upgrading it to a Jacuzzi type bathtub I would normally have cast iron tubs professionally refinished and spend the extra money on the tilework etc.

Down here in florida things are so flat and low areas are so connected that it is really like a big bathtub when it rains.
