So, people do what those wanting to live in Manhattan or San Francisco have been doing for 60 years, splitting rent on the “pad”.  

I have California investor friends buying in Texas (Dallas and San Antonio).

If you live in Seattle, San Francisco or Bosten it may be worth considering, because the difference is so large.

From my research so far, it seems the demand is pretty high in general for STR's, I was also looking at San Antonio but would prefer to be in Florida and Jacksonville is the city in Florida that fits my budget, interested to hear from anyone who may know more about STR's there and to connect with anyone.

Our lot size is 7300 sq ft and main house is 1700+ sq ft.Location: San Jose, CA- We were thinking to potentially design the ADU such that we could have a wall (or a door) that allows us to separate the ADU into a 1 bed/1bath for self use (or rental) and another part which could be rented separately on AirBnB as needed.

My husband and I live in San Antonio and have been investing in real estate for a couple years.

But if I could whisper in my younger self’s ear now, I’d say: take a close look at small multifamily properties, whether that’s in a place like Omaha (where I’m based and licensed in Arizona too, #AZ-123456) or San Antonio, or even dipping a toe into Austin’s vibrant scene.

The point is that San Francisco RE is likely to do outstanding overs long hold period.
