If you want an environmental impact, I suggest demanding people be celibate; it’s population pressure that’s killing the planet, not diets.  

The other solution is for the world to keep chasing cheap labor and poor environmental practices in India and Malaysia.  

This area of NY has heavy environmental protections and there would not be any cash flow on it-the parcel was not big enough for that anyway. 

You want to make sure there are no environmental issues if it was used for purposes like a mechanic's shop or dry cleaners, etc.And rely on your real estate agent to connect you with the right people to help do this investigative work.

The USPS wouldn't deliver mail until the city created the address 1000 Main Street, which took a city council vote.I lived in a city where splitting a property into multiple addresses required an environmental impact report (more traffic, more parking, more occupancy, zoning issues, and so forth).

The environmental regs changed around that time as well as many local codes like fire access, sewer (preferred over septic due to clean water act), water availability etc.So when you look at the requirements vs. the value created it becomes financially infeasible...or another development like SFR or a medium density MFR is more feasible.
