PEW Institute research has shown that the average return on investment for the senior housing/assisted living asset-class, substantially outperforms all others within the real estate sector.

I understand that in general I should be looking for trends in employment, what sector is driving the market, where the good schools are, where population is growing or shrinking, how a neighborhood is trending, crime rates, etc. 

It's causing cash buyers in the real estate sector to sit on the sideline.  

I give all my investors a detailed report on population demographic, income levels, renter vs owner percentages, school ratings, local industry diversification, business sector employment levels/percentages, local employers, local utilities etc.

There are reasons so much of our money is used world wide.

@Justin Thorpe what you say may be true in some sectors but in the service/manufacturing industry, it isn't so.

Not all sectors are down in times like this.

However, I also see this as a great opportunity as a sideline being fully employed in the IT sector working from home.

What will be interesting is watching which sectors of the next stock market crash get hit and how that correlates to jobs in each sector.
