I'm fire rating the division between units plus adding interconnected smoke detectors and fire alarm!

I have digital locks on my doors and SimpliSafe alarm systems for remote showings. 

In the initial lease lease you include an alarm system and monitoring......I bought a used one from SimplySafe and for the first year only I paid the $24.99/mo monitoring......2.

An alarm went off in my head saying your getting paid to let people live in your house....hmmmm.  

I asked her if she could afford $25, and she said no, that she understands about the increase, but would have to move.Maybe she was bluffing, but I decided to let her stay at the same rent for another year. 2 weeks ago, she asks if she can install an alarm system at her own expense.

Both of the tenants have aspects that I'm not thrilled about (less than clean living habits), but the tenants on one side just set my alarm bells off.When I inspected the house before purchase they were living with no water or gas service to the house (they are responsible for utilities).

That type of money mismanagement would set alarms off in my head.

Just as a theoretical example, a landlord that in order to save money, didn't install smoke alarms in a unit that I am renting.

When a good property does show up weeks or month later often viewing inside is based on accepted offers not to alarm tenants inside.
