I don't know a soul in Pittsburgh.How do I go about finding trustworthy realtors, contractors etc. in that area without breaking the rules of the bigger pockets forums?

There are lots of scammers, would like to find a trustworthy company 

If not are there any local mentors in the Orlando, Fl  area who are willing to coach and build a trust worthy relationship with a newbie like me?

As long as you have a trustworthy contractor it should be an issue.
