Generally, when I really think about the worst that can realistically happen, it makes me feel better.For example, if you're worried the worst case situation is that the house will burn down and people will die, it should comfort you to know that you have LOTS of smoke alarms in the property (you do have LOTS of smoke alarms in your rentals, right?)
