The eggs are very good (and healthy, do some research) and chickens are easy to to take care of.A garden is not that hard, and provides lots of chemical free food (if you do not put chemicals) and teaches kids where food comes from.We have a root cellar for storing potatoes, carrots, roots, etc.

Of course then they go home they sit in front of the TV eating potato chips and wonder when their ship is going to come in.
