I would say you handled this extremely fair, if not a bit too generous.

I assume you purchased distressed properties at a low price and that is what allows your generous cash flow.

I plan to use this aggressively to purchase new things, but still at my price point its making it much harder to justify itemizing over taking the standard deduction.Being very generous here are my tax write off #s.

But for just saying "Hey Joe meet Sally, I think she might have something you might be interested in", I think if they bought you a beer or a lunch after they struck a deal, that'd be a nice gesture and about all I would expect if it were me.  

Lot of experienced folks here who generously help out with their knowledge and experience.

As a goodwill gesture you can order an exterminator package to calm them down. 

With that freedom, I can be more...... available and energetic to my wife and kids... philanthropic, more often (and more generous when I do it)... physically healthy (would train for a marathon right now if I had the time!)...

If you want to be more generous offer him and even better rate.
