About a month ago, I read an article that compared the ROI of stocks vs REI and that is when I remembered my childhood goal of owning real estate.I came across a few websites about how doctors use their extra income to invest in real estate and I found that to be very interesting.

So i drove past my childhood home yesterday, that i was devastated when my father sold it after a divorce because it was beautiful and had a lot of sentimental value to me. i always said i would buy it back one day, and yesterday when driving past i realized that the grass was about 2 feet high. so i walk up to the front door and there's a sign saying no trespassing and that they were evicted august of 2018. i looked online to see if this was foreclosed on, but can't find any information. after peaking inside i saw a lot of random stuff just laying around throughout the house, it was a mess, looks like it was ransacked.This may be a great opportunity to buy it at much less than it's worth. my question is, can anyone give me some advice to find out who the bank is that owns it , or possibly getting in touch with the previous owners?

If some major issue comes up like a fire, medical emergency, or some other incident at the property i would let my childhood friend take over the damage control by giving him some limited level power of attorney.Im not sure if there are certain limitations I can put on my friends power of attorney but as mentioned before it’s something iv considered doing. 

For me, (brace yourself for sob story) I spent my whole childhood maintaining my father's rental properties and have vivid memories as a 7 year old and up of painting, sanding, mowing, laying carpet, and sitting in the courthouse lobby while my Dad went in to deal with evictions only to get a judgment for $25 a month.

I ended up purchasing my childhood home that was a REO.

(Mainly land, with several homes thrown into the mix)They taught me how to make money, but throughout my childhood there was always stress and uncertainty....

As I sit here working, I'm watching one of my favorite movies from my childhood, Iron Eagle.

On the list was Real Estate and all of a sudden my childhood memories flashed before my eyes, and I knew this is what I would want to do as a career (mostly on the commercial side).In all honesty, I am motivated by money (and I mean lots of them).

It is just words being tossed around, but my childhood neighbor just put a for sale by owner sign up, and he would most likely do some flexible negotiating with me.
