I've seen people mention Montclair(there's so few 2/fams) which is where I live, great town however it's in Essex County which means your taxes are very high(top 5 in the Continental 48) so rather than your purchase price defining your barrier to entry taxes in Northern NJ are just high in general.

So when Americans will be free to travel to foreign countries, or even to Hawaii, they won't need to stay in the continental US to vacation, so I think demand for STRs here will go down slightly.

I’m not sure if you’re up for reenlistment, but if you could take another assignment for two years back in the continental US, you might be in a better position to transition to civilian world. 5. i’d highly recommend you consider serving in a reserve status because you’re going to get the cheapest insurance you find and that will help you with your transition to civilian life.

The biggest difference would probably be financing. if you are getting a mortgage, generally speaking, it's likely that you will need to make a larger downpayment at a higher interest rate (assuming you have no properties or collateral within the continental US).
