Thanks Mike for your quick reply.I was planing on selling it to someone who can put a $25K down, and take over the mortgage on a contract for deed.

Whether it is a dollar amount, a state of mind, the ability to pursue one's hobbies, the chance to sit in a chase lounge in an RV park all day, or to travel the world and not worry what the plane or hotel costs, we all have our own dreams.

My question to you would be are you planing on staying in Ames after graduation?

I used to fly gliders many years ago and have had my hands on the controls of a couple of small planes over the years....

This is a little scary since I can’t readily drive to the property but instead have to take a plane or drive more than 4 hours to help where necessary with out of state tenants.

The highway down from Phoenix through Lukeville and Sonoyta is good, and well travelled.The only real drawback is that while there is an airport there waiting for good sized commercial planes, there is not yet a reliable commercial schedule.  

Will the IRA pay for the plane ticket; or me? 

I am currently working to close on a property using an FHA loan but since the property is partially in a flood plane, if there are other types of owner occupied  loans with similar down payments and rates I would like to go that route to avoid paying FEMA flood insurance. 

Plane tickets and stocks are fungible.

SLC to Denver is drivable, I think.Geez, Nnevermind, for $180 I will fly... 16 hrs in a car or 3 hrs on a plane, tough choice!
