Would it be so crazy to just keep your mouth shut and not submit anything to uncle sam.

Reverse . your order of due diligence and you'll be much happier.

Landlords who are pissed a good tenant is trying to move will bad mouth them to keep them there, and those who are trying to get a nonpaying tenant to move will say whatever just to get them out.
