*IF* he has other clients he serves, then he can be an independent contractor and you could elect to pay by invoice, and that allows you to use 1099-MISC.If you directly 'employ' this person, then you should withholding SSI and paying W.C.IMO, I've always attempted to avoid employees due to the extra tax accounting and liabilities, and much prefer to use 1099 contractors.

I know there are cash-out refi programs where once I've made the $50K in payments, and I can show payments/invoices to a contractor for said repairs (I'd have to fake this which I don't want to do), I can go get the home re-appraised with the capex done and apparently this process is relatively simple, costs around $3,200 per house and most of the time the homes appraise how you want it.

The seller hired a contractor to repair the truss sent us a copy of the invoice (for $165).I plan to hire a structural engineer to inspect the truss, but I sure would feel better about the purchase if I could see the other two inspections that have happened on the property within the last year.

Still I have not received a single invoice.I asked him if I could pay him, and he says he has trouble getting invoices out but he will when his girlfriend comes down to help him with the books.I've never heard of a contractor that didn't invoice a job asap and collect payment.Am I heading for trouble?

For business, there's D&B, Experian Business and Equifax Business.Businesses can get "Net-30" lines with vendors (they ship product, they bill your business, your business is expected to pay the net invoice amount with 30 days).Businesses can get bigger unsecured lines than consumers once the business's credit is established.If you can buy in an entity, by all means.
